It all began with a wedding. Mine (Pratishtha’s). And a feeling of overwhelm. After 10 years of working in live events, and putting that deep Capricorn energy to it’s full organizational potential, I thought I could easily handle planning a wedding.

Then came the tasks. The neverending contracts. The hundreds of vendors to sort through to find the perfect ones. The venues booked 2 years in advance. The decor that looked simple but required 8 phone calls and 2 tours. And the COSTS!!! The costs that added and added until it felt way too late to cancel, but way too much to justify.

So what did I do? I turned to my best friend Karen. Karen had been organizing weddings since 2019. From extravagant 400 person South Asian affairs in banquet halls and elegant 200 person magazine featured queer weddings, to intimate mehendi parties and ceremonies for 20-30 people, Karen had done it all. With her expertise, and knack for decorating a beautiful arch, Karen saved my wedding!

We realized that everyone doesn’t have a Karen to swoop in with her creative vision and save the day, and everyone doesn’t have a Pratishtha to make the excel sheets, check them thrice, and dot every i. But why shouldn’t they?

The lead up to your wedding should be warm, glowy, filled with engagement pictures and lots of time to perfect the choreography on that first dance.
